1.What is a daith?

“Daith piercing” is a type of ear piercing, specifically a piercing in the innermost part of the ear wheel (helix) near the ear canal, a location known as the ear socket (daith)

2.Daith piercing pain level

In general, because the Daith piercing is performed in the cartilaginous area of the ear, it is often perceived as a bit more painful compared to an earlobe piercing.
We would rate it a 7/10 on the pain scale but this can vary from person to person.

3.Daith Healing Time

The healing time for a Daith puncture (ear socket puncture) varies depending on a number of factors.

Typically, initial healing after a Daith puncture may take 6 - 8 weeks. During this time, the puncture site goes through phases of inflammatory response and tissue repair. However, this is only a general timeframe and true complete healing may take longer, sometimes 4 - 6 months or more.

4.Daith Care

  • Since ear nail piercings are somewhat difficult to access, it can be difficult to keep the area clean. There are several optimal cleaning methods so you can choose what works best for you.
  • Use Post-Puncture Care Salt Solution compresses. Moisten a paper towel with the Post-Puncture Care Salt Solution and place the paper towel over the ear for 3 - 5 minutes. When finished, you can either pat the area dry with the paper towel or use a hair dryer on a low setting to dry it.
  • Use a fine mist spray of ear piercing care salt solution. To clean your ear piercings in this way, simply spray each side of the piercing with a fine mist of salt solution and let dry.
  • Don't move the jewelry. Cartilage is more susceptible to damage than soft skin, so you need to be extra careful not to move your ear nail piercing jewelry while it is healing. Damaged cartilage can lead to piercing lumps, jewelry rejection, and other problems. To avoid these complications, don't move the jewelry. Additionally, you want to make sure that you don't put pressure on the piercing. Try not to sleep or lean on your piercing while it is healing. This can be challenging, especially if you are getting both ear nails pierced at the same time.
  • Do not use earplugs during recovery. Earplugs can contact and move the jewelry, causing injury to the piercing area, which can lead to jewelry rejection or a piercing lump.
  • Do not allow any non-piercing products to come in contact with the piercing site, including tea tree oil. The only product you should use on a healing piercing is saline. Any other product contains chemicals that can irritate the piercing site, leading to piercing lumps and other complications. It is a common misconception that tea tree oil is good for the piercing site, and even some post-piercing care products contain tea tree oil. The truth is that despite its antimicrobial properties, tea tree oil is highly caustic, and tea tree oil can irritate the piercing site and potentially lead to piercing lumps.
  • Stay away from standing water. This includes hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes, baths, rivers and oceans. Since ear nails take a long time to heal, consider any upcoming vacations that may be affected by the healing of your ear nail piercing.
